Hello, my name is Fred Schwenk.  I have directed you to this page because you have sent a prayer request to the Prayer Board of PraiseNation describing the suffering you are going through right now because your loved one has left you.

I know your suffering is real, and things feel horrible right now for you.  You probably don't think that things will ever get better for you.  Let me assure you, they will in the future.  What seems impossible now will work it's way out over time.

It is critical that no matter how things eventually turn out between your loved one and yourself, it is time, right now, to take care of yourself.  I have seen families brought back together over time, and I have seen the opposite.  Please pay attention to what I have to say at this moment.

Whether or not things work out the way you hope and dream they will, or they don't, it is mentally, physically and spiritually harmful to do nothing during this time.  You can't really do anything to change your present situation between you and your loved one that has left, but it is up to you to do something about yourself.

In my marriage if something is going very badly, I always look in my mirror first.  "Is there something I should either be doing or not doing to be a better partner?"  I am only responsible for what I can change, I can't change things for both of us.  No matter how painful, I must learn to concentrate on myself, moving forward in life, taking care of business as it were.  

Now if children are involved, you must take the appropriate actions to show them your love and acceptance and be sure to concentrate on their daily needs.  If you are suffering a loss, just imagine how poorly they might be feeling right now.  As you see to the needs of others, you will discover you are also taking care of yourself, building a better, stronger mental health.  This is very critical for your future.

A young man had his fiancé turn away from him just days before his marriage.  When he stopped by, he believed his life was worthless, good for nothing!  For several months he just could not seem to move on, go forward to a good and strong future without the woman he loved.  As difficult to imagine, one day he was sitting near a stream pouring his heart out to GOD and the LORD sent him a sign of HIS love for this man.  A deer came out of the woods at that moment to the stream, took a quick drink and stood there watching this man just as much as he was watching the deer.  Fifteen minutes later, the deer casually walked back into the woods and this man new he had his sign from GOD and  was going to have a good future.

It turned out this young man met a wonderful woman, married her, and they had six children together.  If you would have told him this was his destiny the first month his fiancé' walked out on him, he would have said you were just plain crazy!  You just can't give up, you must go on, and you must not go on for yourself only, but for others as well.
